Are you ready for the ultimate joyful travel guide part 2? Let’s go!
1. Sai Nuan Beach
If you're looking for a less crowded alternative to some of the more popular beaches on Koh Tao, Sai Nuan Beach is the perfect hideaway. Located just a 15-minute drive from the main beach, it has decent road access and no parking or entrance fees.
There are actually two beaches to explore here, Sai Nuan Beach 1 and Sai Nuan Beach 2, and they're just a short walk from the jump-off point.
2. Taa Toh Bay
Another hidden gem on the south coast of the island is Taa Toh Bay. This cove is tucked away under a palm-fringed forest and offers peace and quiet away from the more popular attractions. It's a 15-minute drive from Sairee Beach with decent road access, and there are no parking or entrance fees.
The beach is just a short 2-minute walk from the car park, and there's plenty to do here, including snorkelling, kayaking, beach volleyball, hiking, and relaxing in a hammock.
3. Koh Nang Yuan
For a truly unique experience, take a day trip to Koh Nang Yuan, one of the most stunning neighbouring islands in southern Thailand. This tropical paradise offers beautiful beaches, panoramic viewpoints, and some of Thailand's best scuba diving sites.
The island is only accessible by taxi boat, and the most popular route is to organise a day trip from Koh Tao. You can rent a taxi boat for 300 THB per person from Sairee Beach.
There is an entrance fee of 100 THB per person. You cannot use flippers here and will have to leave them at the reception on your way in. There are lots of beautiful fish and corals to see even in shallow water.
While there may be a lot of tourists on the island, it's still worth visiting for the sandbar beach and famous viewpoint. For a more exclusive experience, consider booking a night or two at the Nangyuan Island Dive Resort.
4. Chalok Baan Kao Bay
Chalok Baan Kao Bay is another great option for a day of exploring, beach bumming and relaxing. Located just a 10-minute drive from the main beach, it has great road access and no parking or entrance fees. The long white sand beach is practically empty in the afternoon, and there are several beach bars, bean bags, and restaurants to enjoy some drinks and watch the sunset. It's definitely one of the quieter beaches to visit, with the convenience of food and beverage options right there.
5. Hin Wong Bay
Last but not least, we have Hin Wong Bay, a beautiful beach surrounded by large boulders and crystal clear waters, offering one of the best snorkelling spots.
Hing Wong is located on the eastern coastline of the island, it’s a short 10-minute drive from Sairee Beach, with easy access as the main road leads all the way down to Ao Hin Wong Beach. There are no parking or entrance fees, and it’s just a short 2-minute walk to the beach from the jump-off point.
Overall, Koh Tao offers plenty of beautiful beaches and hidden coves to explore, each with their own unique charm. Whether you're looking for a peaceful escape or an adventure-filled day, there's something for everyone on this tropical island.
